Bruce Hunter (below) is one of the most recognizable faces in Canadian comedy, TV and film, having performed in dozens of theatre, television and film projects including The Red Green Show, Murder at 1600, Mean Girls, Degrassi, Monk and Canadian Bacon to name a few. He has won awards for his commercial work in Canada and the U.S., and won the “Pretty Funny Male Improviser” at the Canadian Comedy Awards. He’s also won Gemini awards for his voice & puppetry work and is also one of the founding members of the award winning improv troupe “Illustrated Men”.
Nik Beat (below) is the popular host of one of the longest running spoken word shows on Canadian college radio (Howl! Tuesday nights at 10pm on CIUT 89.5FM Toronto), a published author and poet, musician and a multi-media artist. His recent Toronto art shows and book launches have drawn crowds of fans, and he continues to support local writers and poets by hosting regular salons and stage presentations to bring spoken word and poetry back to mainstream audiences. For The Knights of Spring Nik will be accompanied by bassist Michael Ratt and Nik, in turn, will accompany his special guest, poet CHELSEA SCOTT, on guitar. Chelsea’s writing is largely inspired by personal life experiences and her own about life; she is currently compiling and editing her work in order to publish her first book of poems. She is also studying acting and currently resides in Toronto with her two children.
The show’s host, Tom Fischer, is a Toronto poet and spoken word performance artist, as well as producer of poetry shows and slams across Toronto. Tom’s two poetry books are Mystics, Misfits and Everyone Else, and From Nowhere to Nowhere, and he’s currently working on a book about Angels in the real world. Tom’s influences include Joni Mitchell, Charles Bukowski, Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits.
